Dr Heidi Haavik is a chiropractor who has also gained a PhD in human neurophysiology. Dr Haavik graduated from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic in 1999, and has practiced for over 17 years. She was awarded her PhD degree by the University of Auckland in 2008. She is the Director of Research at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic where she established the Centre for Chiropractic Research. She is the author of the book ‘The Reality Check: A quest to Understand Chiropractic from the inside out’ (www.heidihaavik.com). This book describes in easy to understand language what happens in the brain when a chiropractor adjusts dysfunctional segments in the spine. Dr Haavik has used her neurophysiology expertise to study the effects of adjusting subluxations on the function of the central nervous system. Dr Haavik is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ontario, Institute of Technology in Oshawa, Canada and is a member of the World Federation of Chiropractic’s Research Council. Dr Haavik has received numerous research awards and has published a number of papers in chiropractic and neurophysiology journals. She has presented her work to both chiropractic and neuroscience communities around Australasia, Africa, North America and Europe. She is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics and Journal of Chiropractic Education and is a Review Editor in Movement Science and Sport Psychology for Frontiers in Psychology and Sports Science. She was named Chiropractor of the year in 2007 by both the New Zealand Chiropractic Association and the New Zealand College of Chiropractic Alumni Association.

Dr. Billy DeMoss is an energetic and passionate speaker who has been a chiropractor and leader within his community for over three decades. His passion for chiropractic care, community wellness, and global sustainability is far-reaching and his influence is international.

Dr. Phil McMaster and a group of other dedicated individuals helped launch the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, which opened in 1994. He served as chair of the philosophy department and has taught at the college since its inception. At the same time, he has run a successful full-time practice.

Dr. McMaster eagerly took on leadership roles to advance the profession. He has served for many years on the Board of the New Zealand Chiropractors’ Association and as trustee and chairman of the New Zealand Chiropractic Education Trust.

While serving as interim president of the New Zealand College in 2002-2003, he completely refined the chiropractic program for accreditation in a time of crisis. Not surprisingly, the college turned to him again and named him president in 2013, a position he still holds. He is a health and wellness “junkie” who loves CrossFit, reading and learning, spending time with his family, and sports.

Ash is a living example of someone who has dedicated his life to share and celebrate the full expression of this great profession called chiropractic. A graduate from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, Ash spends his time playing in multiple chiropractic ‘sandpits’; lecturing, chairman of the NZCC board of trustees, speaking, convening seminars (Fiji on Fire), as well as playing full time in his favorite sandpit- his practice Advanced Health Chiropractic.

Father of two beautiful children and husband to his amazing wife, Katie, who happens to be a chiropractor, co-owner of AHC, and the Dean of Chiropractic at NZCC. Ash loves the dynamic blend of chaos and order in his life. He is passionate about triathlons.
